## Attestations

- [SY Za 4](<https://linear-a.ai/texts/SYZa4/index.md>): A-TA-I-\*301-WA-JA JA-I-NWA-RO PA₃-NI-WI — O Radiant One

## Commentary

SY Za 4, word 2, after the formula verb A-TA-I-*301-WA-JA, in the deity or recipient slot. RILA-S1 (84) reads JA-I-NWA-RO with RO underdotted and rates GORILA's JA-I-NWA-ZA 'moins probable' (cf. SY Za 11; for ZA cf. KN Zf 31). Sign 3 is NWA (AB48) in both RILA-S1 lines, its only occurrence in the corpus, with the value of Linear B B48 (pe-ru-si-nwa ~ pe-ru-si-nu-wa). JA is vocative ya, as in JA-DI-KI-TU; I writes the aleph, here ʾa (cf. I- for ʾu in I-KU-JU-TI); NWA writes /nw/; -RO writes final /-ru/. ʾanwaru is the ʾaqtal elative of √n-w-r 'light': Arb. 'hāḏā ʾanwaru min ḏāka' (al-Zamakhsharī, Asās al-Balāgha, s.v. nwr). The epithet stands before PA₃-NI-WI 'the Builder', as Ugaritic pairs El's titles ṯr il dpid // bny bnwt 'Builder of Built (Ones)' (KTU 1.4 III 30–32; Smith & Pitard 2009, 39, 447). Same root as NU-RO nūr; Akkadian nawir 'is bright' names a god in OB personal names, Sîn-nawir 'The Moon Is Shining' (CAD N/1 212). Rival: ʾaṣwaru 'Fashioner' (√ṣ-w-r; Q 59:24 al-muṣawwir beside al-bāriʾ), which needs AB48 to be a sibilant + w sign. One attestation. See *301-U-RA.
