## Commentary

PK Za 12, the complete final group, and PK Za 11, after I-NA. yapqaḥ, 3ms yaqtul of √p-q-ḥ 'open (the eyes)': Heb. pāqaḥ (HALOT 959), Aram. pqḥ, PS *paqaḥ-, the final laryngeal unwritten. Rival: √p-q-d, which needs a final d. JA- requires a masculine subject: in Tropper's prefix paradigm the 3rd feminine takes t- in singular, plural and dual, and y- stands only in masculine cells (Tropper 2000, 432, §73.222), with gender agreement kept when the verb stands first (886). Hebrew leaves a preceding verb in the uninflected 3ms only before subjects 'denoting animals or things' (GKC §145 o, p. 465). Weak point: the damaged context has lost the subject. Two attestations. See I-NA-JA-PA-QA.
