## Commentary

MI Zb 1, incised on the base of a clay vase (Copenhagen NM 6960): KI-RU, two signs, nothing else (GORILA IV 91). Akk. kirru A, a large vessel of earthenware, metal or stone for water, beer, oil, wine, honey or perfume, from Old Akkadian on; perfume kirrātu among Tušratta's gifts (EA 22 iii 36) (CAD K 408–410). KI-RU writes kirru, the geminate unmarked. Rival: Heb. kiyyôr 'basin, laver' (Exod 30:18), Akk. kiūru 'metal cauldron', a Neo-Assyrian foreign word (CAD K 476), which needs an unwritten y; or an owner's mark. One attestation.
