## Commentary

HT 129: KI-RE-TA₂ Kret receives grain, fat and figs; TU-*21F-RI-NA, in the same slot, grain 40½ and three oils (OLE+DI 1, OLE+KI 6, OLE[). ṭuhārīna 'the pure ones', the plural of the adjective √ṭ-h-r 'pure': Ug. ṭhr /ṭuhūru/ < *ṭahūru (DULAT 875; Huehnergard 2012, 42), plural in bht ṭhrm iqnim 'a palace of the purest lapis' (KTU 1.4 V 19; DULAT 90–91); Heb. ṭāhôr (HALOT 369); Ar. al-mutaṭahhirīna 'those who purify themselves' (Q 2:222). TU writes ṭu, the u of Ug. /ṭuhūru/. -NA is the plural *-īna, which the external endings carried first on adjectives (Huehnergard 2019, 59), as on the grain recipient DI-RI-NA. Akkadian counts pure men, 7 LÚ.MEŠ KÙ.MEŠ (CAD E 104). Rival: ṭuhārī-nā 'our purification', Heb. ṭōhar 'purifying' (Lv 12:4, 6; HALOT 370), with the flour and oil of Lev 14:10, 21. Weak point: one attestation. See OLE+TU.
