## Commentary

/wannā/ 'and behold', comparing Ugaritic w hn beside contracted wn (KTU 1.23:46; 1.4 IV 50; Watson 1996, 285–87; Sivan 2001, 34, 186) and Lipiński's *wa-hanna/u > wn (1997, §27.25). Hebrew wəhinnē keeps /h/; Ebla a-na, an-na, i-na, in-na and Ugarit syllabic a-né-en-na write the presentative without h- (GlOS 1, 218). Rival: /winnā/, since alphabetic Ugaritic leaves the vowels open; Tropper 2000, §33.142.23 allows */wa-hinnV/ > /winnV/, though he prefers w with enclitic -n. See U-NA-A, I-NA.
