## In Linear A

- [A-KA-RU](<https://linear-a.ai/lexicon/A-KA-RU/index.md>) (Agaru): field, estate (heading); rival the Ugaritic god Ugaru
- [U-KA-RE](<https://linear-a.ai/lexicon/U-KA-RE/index.md>) (ʾugār): the field (of), meadowland (heading of a grain-ration list); rivals ʾikkār 'ploughman', the personal name Ugār

## Notes

OLA80 §63.5 sets Libyco-Berber ižžar < *iggar 'field' and Agaw agār 'country' beside the Semitic forms, and doubts a loan from Sumerian a-gār 'water meadow' or from Indo-European *agr-. Rendsburg takes Mycenaean a-ko-ro, Greek ἀγρός, Latin ager and ugr for one IE–Semitic lexeme from the spread of agriculture (2026, 205).
