Living One!—Salvation!

## Word by word

| Word | Reading | Gloss | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| [A-JA](<https://linear-a.ai/lexicon/A-JA/index.md>) | ḥayyā | 'the Living One', title of the Goddess (√ḥ-y-y) | Candidate |
| [JA-SI](<https://linear-a.ai/lexicon/JA-SI/index.md>) | yašīʿ | Salvation (√y-š-ʿ) | Candidate |

## Commentary

A-JA is complete at PE Zc 4 and SY Za 2; MA 4b reads A-[?]-[?]-[?]-JA and is not an independent attestation. Mari ha-ia-/a-ia- for West Semitic ḥaya ‘lives’ makes /ḥaya/ or /ḥayyā/ orthographically possible (Weeden 2009, 96–100), but Haya, Aya, and Davis's structural reading remain rivals. The whole reading remains CANDIDATE.

## Lexicon entries
