## Word by word

| Word | Reading | Gloss | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| [A-RE-SA-NA](<https://linear-a.ai/lexicon/A-RE-SA-NA/index.md>) | ʾAriš-ān | 'The Requested One'—votive birth-name, √ʾ-r-š 'to request, desire' + hypocoristic -ān | Candidate |

## Commentary

Single-word owner/dedicant inscription on clay vessel from Akrotiri. The pan-Semitic votive naming motif—a child asked of the deity (Akkadian Erišti-Aya, Hebrew Šāʾûl, Hannah's Samuel etymology 1 Sam 1:20)—in the ʾrš lexeme; Amorite ARIŠ-AN (Gelb no. 2190) and Safaitic ʾršn carry the identical formation. Companion to THEZb6 ʾatanāya: both Thera vessels carry devotional single words.

## Lexicon entries
