PCS \*ˀwš 'to grant, offer a gift' (Kogan 2015: 318; Kogan 2006b: 243 apud SEDonline 1384). The Amorite names are read as ʿWŠ 'to help' (Gelb AS 21, 15) and as \*ġwṯ 'to assist' (Huffmon APNM 171).
