DULAT 85 sets Ug. ỉpd beside Hb. ʔp(w)d, Syr. pedtā, Ebla /ʔipdum/ and Akk. epattu. HALOT 77 describes the ephod as a cuirass-like sacral garment common in Asia Minor. Not 364 \*sū-t- 'garment' nor 3227 \*ŝaml-at- 'outer garment, cloak'.
