## Notes

Proto-MSA \*ṣ̂agm- 'cheek' (SEDonline 1537). W. Müller (apud CDG 149) tentatively connects it with Gez. ṣ̂agama 'to be on the left hand; to be twisted, distorted', Arb. ḍǯm 'to be crooked, distorted (mouth)', ḍaǯam- 'inclining towards one side of the face' (Kogan 2015:573 apud SEDonline 1537). Cf. Yem. Arb. ḏ̣ijmeh 'Backe, Wange' (Behnstedt 742 apud SEDonline 1537). Distinct from 2340 \*gʷin/mṣ̂- ~ \*gahṣ̂-am-.
