Phoenician and Punic ḥ writes \*ḥ and \*ḫ alike; Ugaritic ḫyr has ḫ. Krahmalkov 183 marks the vocalisation uncertain. HALOT 266 derives MHeb./Aram. ʾiyyār from Akk. ayyaru and adds Ug. ḫyr; ayyaru shows no ḫ.
