Verb of 739 \*ḫubVz- 'bread'. Oven nouns: Arabic maḫbaz 'an oven' (Lane 697); Geez māḫ(ə)baz 'oven, bakery', məḫəbbāz 'bakery, bakehouse' (LGz. 257) and məḫəmmāz 'oven' (LGz. 263). LGz. 257 reports Nöldeke's view that Arabic ḫubz is a Geez loanword, against Landberg.
