## Notes

HALOT 1392 calls its derivation from \*šbl 'to hang down loose' (HALOT 1393) completely uncertain. Cf. 353 \*šabal- 'fascicle of spears' and 3195 \*šu(n)bul-at- 'ear of corn'.
