Commentary

PA 1: A-KU-JU-PA-*118 35, the tablet’s only entry (GORILA I 284). *118 closes the group before the numeral, as in SI+ME-KI-*118 1¾ and *539-*118 1 on HT 24b, where it takes fractions; Linear B writes the talent with *118. KU-JU writes kul, as in I-KU-JU-TI ʾukulti (ZA 6b), SU-JU-TA sulta (KN 22a) and ZU-JU-PU₂ ṯulpu (HT 25a). Hittite ᵁᴿᵁᴰᵁkullupi, a copper hoe or axe (KBo 3.33 II 10′; KUB 7.41 obv. 5), and Aramaic kulbā share the kul-; Akk. kalappu has kal-. Rabin 1963, 124 reads Hebrew *kulappôt, with kul-, and leaves the loan’s direction open: if Akkadian kalabu is old, Hittite too took it from a third language. A Wanderwort of the metal trade. One attestation.
