HT 118 A-RI-SU 4, with KI 1 owed, in a pig account among MA-DI, QA-QA-RU (Qaqqaru) and RI-RU-MA, KU-RO 30. ḥārišu ‘the craftsman’, the qātil participle: Ugaritic ḥrš ‘craftsman, manual worker; artisan, builder’ (DULAT 366); Ugarit’s polyglot list ḫa-ra-šu ‘craftsman, builder’ (GlOS 1, 251); Amorite ḥariš-, *ḥāriṯ- ‘artificer, worker’, from *ḥrṯ ‘engrave, cut’, in the Mari name Ḫa-ri-ša-an (Huffmon 1965, 205). A title in a recipient list, as QA-*310-I qaynī ‘the smith’ takes KI-oil on HT 8a. Rivals: a personal name ʾarīšu on √ʾ-r-š ‘to request’: Amorite ʾARUŚ-U (A-RU-SU; Gelb 1980, no. 511), glossary ʾariśum; A-RE-SA-NA (THE Zb 2) is read on that root. Akkadian eršu B (Neo-Assyrian aršu) ‘drilled, plowed and sown’, substantivally ‘drilled field’ (CAD E 314), a sense the recipient slot does not fit. One attestation.
