Commentary

KN Zb 5, a clay vessel (MM IIIB), the single word A-TU-RI-SI-TI ·. Pre-Greek Turis- (LB tu-ri-so, Tylissos) with the NWS article ha- (h dropped to A, as A-KI-DA-RO) and the feminine gentilic -īt, as KA-NA-NI-TI kanaʿanītī. The feminine agrees with the jar (Ug. kd n. f. ‘jar’, DULAT 424; KA-DI kadd): a provenance label of the SU-KI-RI-TE-I-JA genre. Linear B writes the same feminine ethnic with Greek -ia, tu-ri-si-ja (KN Lc 533.8; DMic II 378, s.v. tu-ri-si-jo). A Semitic formation on a pre-Greek stem.
