Commentary

KE Zb 4, a lamp from Kea: a one-word dedication. √y-š-ʿ ‘save’, as in JA-SI (‘Salvation’, KN Zb 4) and PE Zc 4 (‘he saves’): one root at three sites. Š is written S and the final ʿ is unwritten. The vocative JA- is JA-DI-KI-TU’s (IO Za 2). Amorite ia-še-ia carries the hypocoristic -iya on the same stem (GlOS 2, 379). Weak point: the -E extension, vocative or petitionary, against bare JA-SI. One attestation.
