Commentary

PH 7a .2 U-DI-RI-KI[, broken after KI (GORILA I 295). Amorite and Ebla names on √d-r-k mean ‘successor’: darikum (Gelb 1980, nos. 1404, 1481–82), Dark-i-Ma (no. 1497), Ebla dar-gi (GlOS 1, 150); the sense ‘way’ rests on Hebrew derek. DA-RE-KU (ZA 18a)is an independent √d-r-k token at Zakros.
