Notes

HALOT 629–630 derives the name of myrrh from מרר ‘to be bitter’, the resin tasting bitter, and Greek μύρρα, σμύρνα from the Semitic word. Payne Smith 259 prints Greek μύρρα beside Syriac mūrā.
