Notes

HALOT 233 marks Arb., Eth., Tigr. darasa and Soq. deros '< Heb.-Aram. ?'; LGz. 144 reports Jeffery's view that Arabic darasa is of Hebrew origin and Nöldeke's that Geez darasa 'compose a religious treatise' (LGz. 143) is a Syriac loanword. Not 546 *dVrVs- 'beat, force out, trample', the 'tread' root HALOT 233 sets beside it.
