Notes
PS *ḏmr 'to protect, guard' (HALOT 274, DULAT 283–284; SEDonline 2137). HALOT 1581 notes that Amor. zmr/dmr and Ugr. ḏmr 'to protect, guard' answer Hbr. šmr with z and d. Sab. ḏmr 'to protect, protection' (HALOT 274, 1581) is read 'to initiate legal process against s.o.' (SD 39) and 'to bring a charge, accuse' (Sabaweb lemma 2117). Krebernik 1988, 51, 58–59 n. 36 reads iš₁₁-da-mar-ᵈda-gan, the one composite name with an infixed form, as Gt of ṯ-m-r (Ugaritic ilṯtmr, ʿm(y)ṯtmr; Amorite a-bi-aš-ta-ma-ar, a-bi-iš-ta-mar, ḫa-am-mi-iš-ta-mar, i-li-iš-ta-mar), Akk. šitmurum 'to praise' with the noun as direct object, rather than Gelb's 'to guard, to protect' (AS 21, 32) or 'to bear fruit'.
