Notes
*ɣmd 'to cover, to wrap, to make obscure, invisible' (SEDonline 2153). The Mehri and Jibbali forms are perhaps Arabisms: Mehri aɣōməd 'to sheathe a sword' (ML 137 apud SEDonline 2153), ɣəmēd 'sunset' (ML 138 apud SEDonline 2153); Jibbali ɣõd 'to be hidden, obscured; to set (sun)' (JL 86 apud SEDonline 2153). Cf. Akk. ḫamādu 'to be evasive' (CAD Ḫ 58).
