Notes
Proto-MSA *lkd 'to patch leather' (SEDonline 1467). Leslau connects Hbr. lkd 'to catch animals by trapping' (HALOT 530) and Arb. lkd 'to cleave, to stick' (Lane 2671), all from 'to tie, to bind, to attach'; Sab. mlkd 'cistern' (SD 82) belongs to the same root (Kogan 2015:563 apud SEDonline 1467), something which traps the water brought by the canal, as Heb. malkōdet 'trap' (BeFSTI/282-3). Tomback (T 158) compares B.Heb. lākad 'to capture' and J.Aram. lekad, and sets Akk. lakādu 'to run' and Arab. lakada, ʿala 'to rush upon' beside them.
