Notes
SEDonline 315 sets Aramaic rbʕ under PS *rbṣ̂ 'to lie down, to rest (mostly of animals)' with Akkadian rabāṣu, Hebrew rbṣ and Arabic rbḍ; HALOT 1180 likewise takes Aramaic rbʿ as the reflex of the root of Hebrew rbṣ and Arabic rabaḍa (Kaufman 1974, 107 n. 381), and Hebrew rbʿ as an Aramaic loanword (Wagner 276). Arabic rabbaʕa 'to quadruple' and tarabbaʕa 'to sit cross-legged' belong to 2913 *ʾarbaʕ- 'four' (OLA80 §35.34 derives them from the numeral). Biella 478 compares Arabic marbiḍ 'sheepfold'.
