Notes

HALOT 1195–1196 leaves open whether this is a homonym of 1775 *rūḥ- 'blow, breath' or one root with it: Akk. napāšu means both 'to breathe' and 'to become wide'. Payne Smith 533 and SD 119 enter the two roots apart. Geʿez ʾarḫawa 'to open' is rḫw (LGz. 468).
