Notes

Distribution: East Semitic (Akkadian) and NWS (Canaanite, Aramaic). HALOT 1670 gives Akk. šatālu 'to plant' (AHw. 1033a; CAD S 197b) and Punic σιθιλεσάδε, cited by Nöldeke (ZDMG 57, 1903, 417) from Dioscurides 3:66. √nṭʕ (see 1163) is the general pan-Semitic 'to plant'; √š-t-l is specialised for deliberate transplantation, often metaphorical (Ps 1:3).
