Notes
Gz. sǝwwǝrāt 'mysteries', pl. of sǝwwǝr 'hidden, concealed, secret', from sawwara 'to hide, conceal' (LGz. 520-1): Dillmann compares Arb. srr 'to confide a secret'; Leslau sets it beside Aram. swyr 'hide', and Rundgren derives it from ʕwr 'be blind' with a causative s- (ibid.). BK files under the same root sarar-, sirar- 'line, crease on the forehead or on the palm of the hand' and surr-, sarar- 'umbilical cord' (cf. 2387 *šurr- 'navel') (BK 1 1074-5).
