Notes

HALOT 1448 posits II *šwq, a by-form of II šqq, for tǝšūqā. Arb. šāqa 'to fill with longing' (HALOT 1448; LGz. 510; Lane 1620) has š, which answers *ŝ, against Heb., Aram. š and Geʿez s. HALOT 1647 sets Geʿez tasaqʷaqʷa beside Heb. II šqq 'pulsate, desire'. LGz. 551 calls the link of Geʿez ṣəḥqa 'desire eagerly' with šwq unlikely. Not 449 *šVwVḳ- 'run over'.
