Notes

PS *ŝmḫ 'to be high, tall' (Kogan 2015: 307 apud SEDonline 293). CAD Š₁ 288 defines šamāḫu also 'to flourish, to attain extraordinary beauty or stature'. Cf. S45 *śmḥ- 'to rejoice, be glad'. Krebernik 1988, 51 n. 12 leaves the root of Ebl. iš-AL₆- between š-m-ʿ and š-m-ḫ, preferring š-m-ḫ if dal/dùl-da-ma-ḫu/ḫa belongs here, since ʿ is not written ḫa/ḫi/ḫu at Ebla; al₆ (Akk. šâlum 'to ask') is not excluded.
