Notes

Hebrew ʾêtān rests on *ytn < *aytan (HALOT 44). The month name, Phoenician yrḥ ʾtnm, Hebrew yeraḥ hāʾētānîm (1 Kgs 8:2), is the month when only these streams still have water (HALOT 44). HALOT 44 and 451 also compare OSArb. ʾwtn and Amorite Yatnu, each with a query. Not 154 *watīn- 'aorta'.
