Notes

LGz. 616 relates wqr to nqr 'peck, pierce' (Nöldeke 1910, 184–185) and cites Dillmann's comparison with Arabic qāra and Hebrew qwr 'dig' (K0318); HALOT 1090 sets Sabaic, Geez, Tigre and Arabic wqr under qwr with cf. LGz. 616 also quotes Barr for Hebrew yāqar 'hew' (1 K 5:31), the yqr of K0433. Arabic waqr 'hollow, cavity in a rock' (BK 2 1582–1583).
