Notes

LGz. 608 compares Geez wagr 'heap, hill' with Aramaic yəgār 'hill, heap of stones' and Syriac yagrā 'heap of stones', and cites early North Arabic wǧr 'tombstone' (W. Müller). 3516 *wgr 'to throw (stones)' is the verb; 1441 *wagr- 'cavern, hole' (Arabic wajr) is another sense.
