Commentary
CR Zg 4, a steatite reel seal (CMS XII 96), face b A-RO-TE under a lozenge-net relief, face a I-DA-DA, read from the impression, the signs whole (Younger, Linear A Texts, citing Raison–Pope 1994, 242–243). A seal names its owner: Ḫaluti, the Nuzi woman’s name Ḫa-lu-ti (NPN 51), on the Hurrian element ḫal(u)- (NPN 212–213), with A for ḫa as in A-RU Ḫaru. Cf. Linear B a-ro-te (PY La 622), obscure (Killen 2024, 935). Rival: ʾālôt ‘oaths, curses’ on primary values, the plural of ʾālāh (Deut 29:20; 2 Chr 34:24), whose ō needs the Canaanite shift. Nuzi spelling does not keep e and i apart (Wegner 2000, 38), so TE matches -ti; cf. Tigunāni Ḫalut, ḫal=o=t(ta) ‘Carry me away!’ (Monti 2017, 428). Weak point: A writes ḫa. One witness.
