Commentary

KH 7a (Khania, LM IB): the heading over VIR+*313b 10, men of the *313b class, who draw ½ unit of CYP+D; each of the tablet’s three sections draws CYP+D. ʾenāš ‘men, people’ (PS *(ʾi-)nVš-), E- the root’s own initial, as JArm. ʔēnāš, SI writing the final š. Rival: naḥāši ‘of copper’ (PS *nVḥVš-), the interior ḥ unwritten, as no *314 sign occurs on any KH tablet: Emar naḫšu ‘bronze(-vessel)’, Amarna nuḫuštu (GlOS 2, 87); it leaves E- unexplained, since nəḥōšet and its cognates begin with n-. Weak point: the heading names the men VIR already counts. One witness.
