Commentary

KH 41 (Khania, clay tablet, LM IB): 3 · KA-TA-RE · [, broken at both ends, the numeral before the name as in the HT 86a allocations. Kothar, √k-ṯ-r: KA, not QA, which writes √q-ṭ-r in QI-TI-RI, and TA, not *118 ṬA, set it apart from qṭr ‘incense’; TA writes its ṯ, as scribes wrote ṯ in the T-series beside ZU (di Mino, Ya Diktu 16–17 n. 27). Khania is western Crete’s second archive, with strong Near Eastern exchange. Rival: √k-t-r ‘crown’, which TA writes the same way; it shares a biconsonantal *K-T with √k-ṯ-r, as √k-n-s does with √k-n-š. One attestation.
