Commentary

HT 87 PI-TA-KE-SI 1, first of six one-unit entries under MA-KA-RI-TE in a roster of men. bīt-kissi, construct + genitive, as Akk. bīt kussî ‘royal property, royal service’ (CAD K 593): ‘(man) of the throne-house’, as the šūt GIŠ.GU.ZA ‘those of the throne’ of an Old Akkadian roster of men (CAD K 592). The house itself heads HT 21 as PI-TA-KA-SE. Rival: Hurrian Pidi-kešḫi, kešḫi ‘throne’ (Laroche 1980, 143–44) with pidi/u- unglossed (1980, 200).
