Commentary

HT 111b .1 SA-DI 4[, whole and undotted, the numeral broken after (GORILA I 181), on a fragment broken above and below. SA writes š in the S-class merger. Ugaritic šdy (I) ‘land labourer’, as nʿrm šdym ‘serving lads, labourers in the fields’ (KTU 4.868:4; DULAT 799). A count of four fits a term for workers; the fragment gives no heading to choose between the occupation and the name. Rival: the name Šadī, Ugaritic šdy (II), ša-du-ya (DULAT 799), and Amorite ŠADW-IJA, ŠA-DI-IA (Gelb 1980, no. 5781).
