Commentary
A personal name in the damaged HT 126a list, immediately followed by 1. Ugaritic alphabetic śdy is attested as a PN in šmbʿl bn śdy (BAH 214, 7, o 14), and syllabic {m}ša-di-ia occurs at Ugarit in RS 15.0173, r. 2′. Ugarit also writes it ši-DI-ia (PRU 6 78:4, 16), SI-DI-JA sign for sign, and DULAT files both spellings under šdy (II) (DULAT 799). Kiš has ša-di-ia as a name too (de Boer 2014, 401). Sanmartín files the Ugarit names ša-du-ya, ša-dì-ia under Sadaw/y ‘open field, field, steppe’ (GlOS 2, 272–273). Rivals: 2514 ‘mountain’, on the same lemma; a Hurrian element šad- (Kinlaw 1967, 201–202).
