Commentary
A suffix on pithos labels: A-NA-NU-SI-JA-SE (HT Zb 159), KI-TA-NA-SI-JA-SE (PE Zb 3). Two morphemes, a relative clause: šī, the Phoenician-type relative (cf. MLK Š-PʿL), with yāṣē, the 3ms imperfect of √y-ṣ-ʾ with the third aleph lost (*yiṣʾaʾu > yāṣē), marking goods as issued. Hebrew Temple accounts use the same construction, אשר-יצא (2 Kgs 12:13), relative with imperfect √y-ṣ-ʾ, for expenditure, and Akkadian ṣītu is the term for disbursements against ēribu ‘income’. With SI the relative š(ī), Minoan sides with Canaanite š- against Ugaritic and Aramaic d-. Bare yāṣē stands in JA-PA-RA-JA-SE yapʾara yāṣē (SY Za 9, a Syme libation vessel), the libation as ‘that which goes out’; see JA-SE.
