Commentary
PH Wc 40, a roundel: TI-TI-MA NA. Ug. ṯṯm ‘sixty’, nom. /ṯiṯṯūma/ (Huehnergard 2012, 50), consonant for consonant, the geminate ṯṯ spelled with the doubled sign TI-TI. The second TI writes the ī of the oblique, ṯṯm ksp ‘sixty (shekels of) silver’ (CAT 2.26:20–21; Huehnergard 2012, 49), the form Heb. šiššîm keeps. NA is the sign counted, as in NA 2 (HT 64), NA 2½ (HT 154c), NA 8 (ARKH 1b) and the roundel KN Wc 42 NA O; it stands where RO stands on PH Wc 39 JA-DI RO. Weak point: the Phaistos roundels write counts as numerals (PH Wc 41 VIN 1½), and no other spells one out. One attestation. Cf. TI-DA-TA, ṯidṯīt- ‘sixth’, from the same root.
