Commentary

In the bronze-bowl scriptio continua A-RA-KO-KU-QA-WA-SA-TO-MA-RO-AU-TA-DE-PO-NI-ZA. A palm name of the Bronze Age type: Amorite Tamar-u (Gelb 1980, no. 6027), Ugaritic tmr ‘date palm’ (GlOS 2, 298), Hebrew Tāmār (Gen 38; 2 Sam 13). TO writes the ō of Hebrew tōmer ‘palm’ (Judg 4:5); final O is the support vowel of coda r. Weak point: GORILA prints no divider in the sixteen signs, and no sequence beside TO-MA-RO recurs as a word elsewhere, so the word boundary rests on the parse. One attestation. See TO-MI-RE.
