Commentary
ZA 14 .3–4 TU-MI-TI-ZA-SE 45[ ], the largest count on a list of personal names, a space lost after the numeral (GORILA III 181). Intact. tumtiṣ-, the t-noun of the Gt of m-ḫ-ṣ with ḫ unwritten and ZA for ṣ, as Ugaritic tmtḫṣ ‘fight’ (KTU 1.3 II 19; DULAT 859) and Akkadian mitḫuṣu ‘fight, combat’, in the prose of the Akkadian treaties of Ḫattuša (KBo 1 1:41, KBo 1 2:10) and the Assyrian annals (CAD M/2 138); TU’s u is the tu- of the war noun tuqumtu ‘battle, war, fight’ (CAD T 481); -SE the Zakros terminative, as MI-ZA-SE: ‘for the fighting’, a levy of 45. ZA belongs to the stem in MI-ZA-SE and DU-RE-ZA-SE, so the -ZA-SE words take -SE alone. Rival: Ugaritic tmtt ‘group of men, team, crew’ (ảlpm tmtt ‘bullocks (and) personnel’, KTU 4.231:9; DULAT 859), which leaves ZA unread. One witness.
