Notes

PS *ʾgr 'to hire'; in continental MSA it yields the terms for male and female slave (Kogan 2011, 237). Kaufman 1974, 33 takes Common Aramaic and Arabic ʾgr as cognate with Akkadian agāru. Rendsburg derives Greek ἀγορά, Mycenaean a-ko-ra, from the Hebrew–Phoenician nouns ʾăgôrâ, ʾgrt (2026, 204–205). Not 658 *ʾigār- 'wall' or K0481 *śVkVr- 'hire'.
