Notes
Krahmalkov 386 sets Phoenician ʿrb I 'present a gift' beside Old South Arabian and Arabic ʿrb 'offer', apart from ʿrb II 'take care of, have custody'. HALOT 877 takes Hebrew IV ʿrb (Hos 9:4) as the Old South Arabian causative 'to offer a sacrifice', against Wolff's III ʿrb 'to be pleasing' and an emendation. SD 18 files Sab ʿrb 'offer' with tʿrb 'give pledges'; Sabaweb keeps them apart (lemmas 3809, 3811). Not K0651 *ʿVrVb- 'pledge', 2675 *ʕVrb- 'to enter' or 850 *mnḥ 'give, offer'.
