Notes

LGz. 77 compares Arabic ʿawā (ʿwy) 'bend'. Lane 2185 sets ʿawā 'he bent' apart from ʿawā 'he howled' (1542). HALOT 796 weighs Arabic ʿawā 'to bend' against ġwy 'to err' for Hebrew ʿwh nif. 'to be bent', pi. 'to twist'. Not 1542 *ʕVwVy- 'cry', K0477 *ġVwVy- 'err'.
