Notes
Biella 71 sets Sab. gyb beside Arb. jwb. Lane 479 derives jawwaba ʿalayhi from jawb 'a shield', which he files under jwb 'to cut, hollow out' (561). LGz. 331 calls the link of Geʿez maggaba 'surround to protect, protect' with Te. mägba and the root gwb unlikely. Cf. SA051 *kyb 'protect'.
