Notes

Biella 65 joins Sab hgd, gdyt with Arabic ǧadā 'give' and Geez gādā 'gift, tribute', and derives the sense from 'cut off' (Hebrew gdd/gdy; cf. 1520 *gVd- 'cut off'). Geez gadawa is denominative (LGz. 180). Amharic gada 'gift, present' is from Geez (LGz. 180).
