Notes
HALOT 290 derives the Hebrew from *ḥgh, with Arabic ḥajā 'to stay, dwell', ḥajaʾa 'to hide oneself', ḥajan 'area', maḥjaʾ 'refuge' and Judaic Aramaic ḥagwāʾ 'cleft'. Lane 515 gives maḥjaʾ 'a refuge' under ḥjʾ. Not 3645 *nḳḳ or 3655 *nḳr 'cleft (in rock)', or 3599 *ḥsy 'to take refuge'.
