Notes

Hebrew kābaš 'subdue' and Syriac kbaš write š against the s of Akkadian kabāsu and Ugaritic kbs. Al-Jallad (2026, 81) compares Aramaic kbš 'to tread on', 'to subjugate', 'to besiege', Hebrew kbš 'to subdue, to subjugate' and Arabic kabasa 'to make a sudden attack upon (a house) and surround it' (Lane 2588).
